About Breast Reduction

Breast reduction surgery (reduction mammoplasty) is performed to reduce the size and weight of large breasts, which can cause physical discomfort including back, neck, and shoulder pain, as well as skin irritation and postural problems. It can also relieve emotional and practical concerns related to clothing, physical activity, and self-image.

The procedure involves removing excess breast tissue, fat, and skin, and reshaping the breast to a more proportionate size and contour. The nipple-areola complex is usually re-sized and repositioned for a natural appearance. Incision techniques vary but are designed to minimise visible scarring while achieving an aesthetically pleasing result.

Breast reduction offers both functional relief and cosmetic improvement, often dramatically enhancing quality of life. Recovery is generally well tolerated, and many patients report immediate improvement in symptoms following surgery.
