Body Contouring
About Body Contouring
Body contouring refers to a range of surgical procedures designed to reshape and refine areas of the body where excess skin or fat may remain after weight loss, ageing, or pregnancy. While diet and exercise can reduce fat, they often cannot address loose or stretched skin and underlying tissue laxity.
Body contouring procedures may include abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), thigh lift, arm lift (brachioplasty), and body lift techniques. These procedures remove excess skin and tighten the supporting tissues, creating smoother, more defined contours. Liposuction is often used alongside skin removal to further sculpt the body and enhance proportions. Each treatment is tailored to the individual's anatomy and goals, and multiple areas can be addressed in a staged approach if needed. The typical result is a firmer, more proportionate silhouette that reflects the patient’s health and fitness efforts.
Body contouring surgery may produce substantial improvements in shape and silhouette, and the procedure is generally safe. However, surgical risks must be considered. A fully trained Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon will always discuss these risks with their patients. Surgery should always be carried out in accredited hospital facilities, with careful post-operative monitoring.
