About Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is a procedure that addresses excess skin, or fat in the upper or lower eyelids. Over time, the eyelid skin can stretch and weaken, leading to drooping upper lids, puffy bags under the eyes, or a tired and aged appearance. In some cases, sagging skin can even interfere with vision.

Upper eyelid blepharoplasty typically involves removing excess tissue to restore a more youthful and alert appearance. Lower eyelid blepharoplasty targets under-eye bags and smooths the transition between the eyelid and cheek, restoring a youthful contour.

Blepharoplasty must be tailored to each patient's anatomy and aesthetic goals.  Some procedures may be performed under local anaesthetic only; however others require sedation or general anaesthesia. Blepharoplasty may also be combined with other anti-aging interventions such as laser treatments, brow-lifts or face-lifts.

When performed with precision, blepharoplasty offers long-lasting, natural-looking results with minimal downtime and scarring. In functional cases, it may also significantly improve visual field and comfort.
